My first real involvement with a football stadium concert, thanks again to Mr Harvey Goldsmith, as he asks me to look after all the acts backstage, and make sure they have what they need in their dressing rooms.

Mick Double was the drum tech for Keith Moon. He gave me a fright when he came up to me an hour before The Who's set and told me someone had stolen the bottle of Southern Comfort that he needed for Keith on stage. Well, trying to find Southern Comfort on a Saturday evening in Charlton in 1976 wasn't an easy feat you know, but I did find a bottle and got back just in time.

When we arrived for the load in at Celtic Park in Glasgow, there was immediately a huge problem. The 10 or so 40 foot artic trucks full of equipment could not get into the venue. The height of the entrance on to the pitch was too low. So Norman got two or three flatbed 3-5 ton trucks and the crew had to man handle everything out of the trucks on to the flatbeds and then drive them into the ground to the stage. All of a sudden the load in was going to take twice as long......
